GMO as our bright future, or as a deadly weapon

Nowadays we can’t imagine our daily ration without food without additives. Most of us do not attach importance to it, but another people do not think so.

So, there are some positive things about GMO. Firstly, using of GMO makes the process of growing go faster. It helps to use less area to get the same harvest, so farmers do not have to occupy a lot of place. It also helps to get more harvest in a short time. Using GMO helps to grow seed even in a very hostile climate. So every country can cultivate their own food, without importing from another countries. GMO also helps to reduce consequences of droughts, or another cataclysm.

And of course there are facts against GMO. First is allergic reaction, that can be caused by such products, for example implementation of brazil nut in soy. It made to increase amount of protein, but people with allergy do not know about that, so they have to suffer. Also GMO changes our microorganisms and that affects our immunity. That is really bad thing about GMO. Another bad consequences are not even explored by doctors. We know that they exist, but we cannot describe them.

In conclusion I would like to say, that I do not spend a lot of time in shop choosing products without GMO, and even sellers do not say, that they used it. So we only can believe that there is not too much GMO in our food.

Do we really need to change it?

Do we really need to change it?
Today the problem of famine is one of the most popular and one of the hardest problems in the world. Particularly it exists in a Third World countries. It's really hard to understand that there are some places where people don't have anything to eat.
Genetically modified food is very popular now. There are a lot of disadvantages in it. Some people believe that there is nothing natural in it. And that it's very unhealthy for people because of artificial substances created from chemicals. But in spite of this  manufacture of genetically modified food is a good opportunity to feed people all over the world. Sometimes especially in summer there are some phenomenas like  drought in Africa. Products with genetically modified organisms are protected from it. And sometimes that is the reason why starving people have an opportunity to eat.
Sometimes insects become a real problem too. For example in India harvest suffers because of insects. Genetically modified products are protected from them too.
Personally I think that there are some really terrible situation when the quality of products is not important for people. It's very stupid not to use the only one opportunity to destroy the famine.
Some people are unsatisfied the GM organisms are also added in products they buy in a supermarkets but no one bothers them to read the structure of products before you pay for them. So I don't think that it's a big problem despite the fact that they are much cheaper than others.
To sum it all up I think that our life would be harder and more severe without it. We don't need to destroy GM organisms but we need to use them to their destination.

Do we need to change our food?

It's widely known that by 2050 the world's population will grow up to 9 billion people. We will need to grow twice as much food as we do today, which means the world's food system will definitely be going through some changes.

Genetically modified crops seem to be a good solution: we can make as many sorts of fruits and vegetables as we want in a laboratory and supply people with them. This idea scares people, they say GM products aren't natural and therefore can be harmful but these are just theories. While it's not proven that genetically modified food is a threat to our health, scientists claim it has the potential to create an essential way to feed the world.

In my opinion, changing our food is an inevitable step to create a better world for all the people.

Do we need to change our food?

Throughout the history there always were cases of fearful reception of the revolutionary inventions of all kinds. The railway was once seen as 'a devil serpent'. The microchips are still considered a secret project against humanity by numerous people and, for example, sects claiming that the people are being microchipped and tracked for evil purposes. To say more, even the vaccines were nearly abandoned in days of their invention, and the anti-vaccine societies still exist; the Edward Jenner's invention was said to have a wide range of various, sometimes just opposite hazardous effects, being even claimed to produce deformities on human beings. Doesn't this recall anything from the modern day? Ah, the GMOs.
A famous sarcastic drawing depicting the fear of vaccination, 1802

/One of the non-sarcastic agitational drawings against the GMOs, 20XX/
There are already a lot of entries on this blog (but not in the rest of Internet) supporting this invention, so I'm going to concentrate on the opponents of genetical modification. Let's examine the GMO counterarguments and learn something about the counterarguments supporters.

Scientific studies

One of the popular trends is to publish a research proving that GMO has negative effects on the nature. The most famous one was done by Á. Pusztai and then G. E. Séralini, accusing GM maize and potatoes of producing problems with healts or even causing cancer on rats. Both works were examined and there were serious errors found in the scientific study procedure.
Despite all of this, the most famous 'scientific' GMO-protester in Russia is D.Sc Irina Ermakova can be seen nearly on all TV channels supporting the anti-GM movements proving the harm of the new invention by the studies mentioned above lots of similar ones including her own. In this study I. Ermakova says that GM soya has proven to have all the kinds of bad effects on mice, including reproduction system diseases and 52% death rate. Surely this job was carefully examined by the scientific society and some obvious mistakes were found. And surely Irina Ermakova keeps up neglecting all these counterarguments, just as Pusztai, Séralini and all the 'anti-GM scientifics' do. Nevertheless, the European Commission after a 10-year research has stated that
The main conclusion to be drawn from the efforts of more than 130 research projects, covering a period of more than 25 years of research, and involving more than 500 independent research groups, is that biotechnology, and in particular GMOs, are not per se more risky than e.g. conventional plant breeding technologies.
This statement clearly has no effect on Irina Ermakova (and russian TV companies) who is continuing appearing on TV screens protesting against GM alongside with supporting her theory of men being ancestors of hermaphodite amazonites

Do we need to change our food?

Do we have to change our food?
What does the food mean for people now and how did affected the life of people long time ago? In the premedical society people used to survive mainly with the aid of food, but now it is not only something necessary but a kind of art, creativity like "stromato" we have heard about.
Nowadays in average supermarket we can find so much different types of food, started to be available since people discovered vast and various manufactory. But do we really need such a wide range of products.
Besides knowing that most of them are genetically modified we might have an idea that the majority doesn't have any nutritious quality in them being gust taste sense "satisfactors".
We all know that marketing business moves forward new products to advertise, to make money on that new alimentary sector. But at the time we go out of the supermarkets with far more stuff that we need other people are suffering and dying of famine. While we continue to dye of obesity, heard attacks, diabetes, stomach and liver cancer caused by the newfound products we consume.
If we will rely on natural crops and not on chemical production of alimentary goods we will give a chance to poor countries to upgrade their economic situation by giving them a place in international trade system  and at the same time give up with products that we don't need to survive.
To conclude I would like to say that making fashion of food industry, other words creating benefit-free but interesting types of food creates inequality in the international trade and agricultural system.

Do we need to change our food?

Nowadays there is a common phenomenon as a "famine". In the world more than 805 million hungry people and 98 percent from them are in developing countries. For example,
526 million: people from Asia and the Pacific.
237 million: people from Africa.
37 million: people from Latin America
And last 15 million contain developed countries.
Mostly all hungry people live in rural areas. The number of poor and hungry people are rising rapidly and , of course, it has a great influence on development of these countries.
They are more vulnerable to crises , they can easily suffer from disasters as flooding of torrential falls and e.t.c.
For developed countries the phenomenon of hunger and malnutrition  is not typical. These countries now produce and consume more than 3/4 of the world's food, although they account for less than 15% of the population. In most of these countries the average calorie content is more than 3000 kcal per day. In this regard, recently in the literature, special attention is drawn to the things of the world more and more people are overweight and this increases their susceptibility to disease, reduced efficiency and reduced life expectancy. The total number of overweight people estimated at 600 million people, most of whom live in the US, UK and some other European countries.
So , the is a question: Do we need to change our food?
Of course!! At first we need to change the way of food consumption: it means to avoid eating fast food and fat food . At second , to do sport , at least 3 times a week and you won't have any problems with metobolism.
We should consume fresh fruits and vegetables.
People must understand the situation in the world and try to help hungry people ( 146 million children are underweight. It is the result of acute hunger) .
 We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving.
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives.
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me.

Do we need to change our food?

Nowadays most everybody knows about genetically modified products, but not all think that they do not harm our health. A lot of people try to avoid GMO because of it's threaten.

In shops people usually buy products that look better than others. However, the taste of those 'beautiful' products can be much worse than of the 'ugly' ones. And it is not so easy to decide what do you prefer: appearance or taste and health with it. To be fair it needs to be said that the influence of GMO is not completely studied yet and we do not know wether it is bad or good or neutral for our health.

Besides those genetically modified technologies can be used not only like a caprice, but like a real need. The population nowadays is growing very fast and not all people have enough to eat in their countries. In this way GMO can be very helpful. For example, those products can grow in such conditions in that normal products can not. Or GMO can be saved for much more time than normal food.

So, as we see, there are two sides of consuming genetically modified products. No one can make you to eat what they want, it is always you to choose. You need to decide firstly for yourself either you like it and you are 'for' GMO or not.

Do we need to change our food?

Nowadays people are getting more and more concerned about the food they eat as it is closely connected with the way they look and feel. So, let's discuss if GM food is dangerous to our health or not.

What does genetically modified food mean? Genetically modified crops have been developed by changing the plant's genetic structure in order to help the plant resist against different diseases or produce larger crops. Undoubtedly, GM food has negative influence on our health because it isn't grown in a natural way. Furthermore, possible side effects connected with the use of GM products have not been studied yet and that is why we can't judge about the safety of these products.

However, a lot of people are not worried about the negative influence of GM food on their health. Besides, producers of this food say that it has a number of advantages in terms of price, durability and nutritional value. They also persuade people that there is no risk to human health and many of them believe to producers. Other reason of using GM food is that sometimes harvest doesn't successful and that is why there is less food. And so people are forced to use GM food as there is a little amount of food.

In conclusion I would like to say that we have compared two aspects of genetically modified food. We have discussed all advantages and disadvantages. From my point of view, every person should decide it for himself whether to buy genetically modified food or not.

Do we really need to change it?

On Earth today there are about 7 billion people. Therefore, in the world there is a problem of food shortages in some regions. Scientists are trying to solve this problem by creating transgenic organisms. Genetic engineering makes it possible to introduce genes into a plant of any organism.
GM-products have disadvantages and advantages.
Supporters of GMOs say that we can invent the plants that are resistant to drought in Africa as well as resistant to various diseases of plants, so we can abandon using of chemicals in agriculture.

But in many countries today grow GMO plants. And this hasn't yet led to the problem of hunger in Africa. It became clear, that GMO products are almost thirty percent more expensive than natural. Also another significant disadvantage is that genetically modified plants don't produce viable seeds. It is very disadvantageously to farmers. Also, in the fields of GMO herbicides and pesticides used on average per hectare more than in fields with normal products. And, the most frightening, that GMO plants produce hybrids with wild plants in the fields. Maybe in a few decades, our planet will inhabit products — mutants.

I am against GMOs - products, because it is still unknown their effect on the human organism.
Scientists can't say the answer, because GM foods have been invented a little more than 20 years ago, and it's too little time.

Some experts believe that the simulated genes can cause genetic mutations in human cells. Therefore GMO — products may have a negative effect on the human organism. Every day there are new scientific findings that confirm the facts of the negative impact of GMOs in experimental animals in which all processes in the body are faster than humans.

Do we need to change our food

Nowadays we can see an enormous variety of food products in our supermarkets. It's easy to find anything you want. But apart from usual products there're some exotic ones. In some supermarkets you can find purple carrots, round courgettes, white cucumbers, square watermelons and etc. The questions are: Do we really need it? Do we really need to modify some goods genetically?
I think, yes! Firstly, it's always interesting and exciting to try out some new kinds of food. You can vary your life with such things like kumatoes (black tomatoes) and strawmatoes (the hybrids of strawberries and tomatoes).
Secondly, people can modify food genetically and look for some new combinations which will feed big amount of people in poor countries. What if scientists, for example, will find out such a great kind of fruit that will be having a big amount of calories and will be costing cheap, so, you will be able to deal this fruit to some days. Also, scientists need to create something that will help to grow all the goods everywhere, even in places where are no water and no sun.
Actually, there is also bad side in creating GM products. Scientists can make a mistake and we may have some really dangerous products.
So, all in all, I would say that GM products can exist but everyone should understand what they're eating.

Do we need to change our food?

I think that everybody loves food, especially when it's tasty and looks like a picture from a magazine and we don't usually think about how healthy it is or what's in it. I'm not saying it's bad because most of us don't even know where this or that product is from.
But now we should care about it more because with the increasing of Earths population the amount of natural and healthy food decreases.
Soon we will be eating only genetically modified foods. And until no one can say if it's good or bad scientists won't stop inventing new methods of changing food.

Without knowing anything about GMO people are sure that there is nothing good in it. But they don't say anything about starving people in Africa who can be saved by GMO products because it grows in severe conditions.

It is for you to decide what to eat but don't make any decisions for others.

Do we need to change our food?

At present, as science is moving forward, new types of food producing appear, for example genetic modification. However, most people prefer natural products, and they are against any artificial ingredients, preservatives, etc. But do we really have choice and do we need to change our food?

As for me, I prefer natural products too, as they are usually more delicious and more healthy. Actually, I believe that overwhelming majority of people accept this point of view, but we should think about our future. These days world population grows rapidly, and the bigger population is, the more food it contributes. So in the near future our planet won't be able to provide everybody with natural products. That is the main reason for the search of alternative ways of producing food. As the result, we won't be able to choose, we will have to change our food. Although some people may be afraid of it or may dislike it, I don't think that it is so scary. Scientists are likely to invent GM products that won't affect our health and our life at all, may be they will be even better than natural ones.

So, to sum up, I'd like to say that in the near future, due to the growing population, we will be forced to change our food, but it's not as scary as it seems, and the solution is sure to be found.

Do we need to change our food?

I suppose that everyone has ever been in the situation like this. Imagine, you're looking for apples in the supermarket, because your mom told you to buy green ones. As soon as you found the right section you're supefied by the amount of different kinds of apples. You recovered your temper and started looking for the kind of apples you need. Well done! You could distinguish red apples from green. And so, the hardest part began. You had to choose what to buy : big, juicy, shining apples or little, uninviting, wrinkled kind of apples. It goes without saying, you chose the first option, but suddenly your mom's words came to mind "Don't judge the book by it's cover. Buy apples, which looks not like they're printed on the magazine's page but like they're trampled by elephants."
As you came home you decided to find out why couldn't you buy these masterpieces. Here's what you've got :
Genetically modified food. Sounds terrifying. But in practice it's just "food produced  from organisms that had specific changes introduced into their DNA using the methods of genetic engineering."

 Still horrific?
So, I'm not going to tell you why GM food is bad, I'll tells why it's good.
I - resistant to diseases
II - more env friendly as they require less pesticides
III - crops have a larger yield
IV - offers more nutrition and flavour
V - capable of thriving in regions with poor soil
VI - insect resistant
VII - lasts longer than not GM food
It also can help to solve the problem with famine in the world. If it's easier and more profitable to grow GM food, why not to do this? Just because it has some side effects? I don't think that it a big problem, the side effects are becoming more and more seldom, and food itself more and more delicious.

I can't stand it!

Everyone faces some situations, that provide high level of aggression or sadness. So it is quite simple, that each person has his own uncomfortable occasions, when it is hard for him to react normally and calmly.
As for me, I always get angry and even can start arguing, when the them is around importance of school education. I know too much people, who can't see the point in learning chemistry or fisics for so long just because they don't need it. And what?! I don't need history, for example, in my future profession too, but school things and subjects are needed basically. Just to be well-educated and developed person, to be able to understand all processes happening around you. So refusing utility or any subject you are saying: "I don't want to be educated". And it scares me a lot, it makes me feel really worried about our worlds future, that is why I can't just keep calm during such conversations.
Also some people who are EVERYWHERE make me irritated. They are trying to know everything about everyone just to retell it then to other persons. And the worst thing is that they often behave like your real friends, but you can't be sure, that you can lean on such person.
So, from my point of view, it is absolutely OK to find some things "out of norms", it happens because each person has his own rooms and limits of permitted, his own vision of life. For sure, it forms for person some stereotypes and beliefs, in which he is extremely convinced. So it is rather hard to start a dialog about such problematic themes with those persons. Try just to avoid this themes to get rid of arguments and conflicts with your surroundings.
