In my opinion, people don't raise enough awareness to online safety related issues. Common concerns include spam, computer viruses, cyberstalking and cyberbullying. Bullies have always been around but, nowadays, the internet gives them an opportunity to bring their actions to a whole new level, as they can harass others anonymously, without facing any consequences afterwards.
In order to stay safe from such users, you should follow these steps. First of all, don't share your current home address, phone number with people who you've never met in real life. Even if you're sure there's no risk in sharing personal details with someone on the Internet, avoid doing that for precaution's sake.
Secondly, if you find any unwanted information about yourself online, recheck all of the privacy settings for online profiles, delete accounts you don't use anymore.
In addition, be careful with junk e-mails and advertisements on sites: don't open, forward, or respond to the ones with inappropriate material.
The Internet is a great way to learn something new and communicate with other people. However, sometimes it can turn against you instead of helping so use it very carefully:)
