THE ROLE AND INFLUENCE OF MASS MEDIA

THE ROLE AND INFLUENCE OF MASS MEDIA

Mass media is information, communication. It seems like a big part of most people's lives. Nowadays just about everyone depends on it to keep their lives moving, considering that its influence has grown with the advance of technology.

There's no doubt that mass media makes our lives simpler. It reaches a large audience. The latest news and information are easily accessible. The Internet and television are some of the best forms of entertainmentIt can be also used for educational purposes and so on.
However the fact that everything feels easier to do with mass media leads to society's huge dependency on it.
We make decisions based on the information that we get from the media. We rely on it and trust it as an authority for the current news and facts about what is important and what is not. The reported information is not always true, though, because the media promotes not only products, but moods and attitudes. There may be a misinterpretation of a situation, news can be manipulated to influence audiences' minds in favour of other people. Misleading messages, wrong interpretation of news - all of this can change the dynamics of the society for the worse.
Considering that powerful influence, we should be aware of how it works and we shouldn't let it affect the way we act and think.

How strongly, in your opinion, can social media control people's minds? Is it really that bad or am I just overreacting?

Social Networks and life without it

Nowadays social networks baecame very important part of our life. Mostly these networks are used by teenagers. But that does not mean, that adults do not use social networks. Almost everyone uses network, but some people use it rare and some people can't imagine their life without posting picturus on instagramm.

I would like to say, that social networks, which are popular in Russia are different from social networks, which people use in USA for example.
Of course the most popular social network in Russia is VKontakre. Statistic says, that the most popular social network in the world is Facebook. It has 1,200 billions users, and for example VKontakte has only 32 billions users.

Social networks have both: advantages and disadvantages. There are lots of them, so i will write about the most important. Advantage is that you are always in connection with your friends, wherever you have acces to the Net. You also know the latest news about your friends. Disadvantages is that it social networks take enormous amount of our life time. Also we cannot be sure, that our information won't be used by third parties.

So are you ready to let the whole world know information about you?

Life without the internet
Today to access the internet is easier than ever because now it's everywhere: in our phones, computers and tablets. Some of us already started to live online more than in real life. Of course there are both sides of it positive and negative.

On the one hand internet is a really useful thing which helps to do your schoolwork, homework, you can read books there and do some other useful things. Also, it's a good way of keeping in touch with friends and family around the world.

On the other hand some of us just get addicted to the internet and they can't even imagine there life without it, they even know what to do if there is no internet. Some young people don't know how to act in real life and they hardly talk to there families.

In conclusion I'd like to say that all information that we need we can find in books and magazines without the help of Internet. Personally, I think that if there will be no internet we would have more time for some other things like reading, meeting friends instead of starting in monitor. So, is internet that good?

Life without Internet

Life without Internet

Internet was developed in the 20th century and has become popular since 1993. Today, according to statistics, regularly use the Internet more than 2.5 billion people.
With the Internet people can easily find any relevant information or get the news. Internet helps to communicate with friends, sending emails instantly. On the Internet, we have access to any type of file, allowing us to easily download books, music or movies. Today it is impossible to imagine life without the Internet. But what would change if the internet was not?
There would be a huge amount of free time without the Internet. The Internet has great benefits, but people do not always spend time on tne Internet with benefit. People go into the virtual world, when they could read a book, do exercise or engage in self-development.
Now people increasingly prefer instant messaging on the Internet, instead of live communication and meetings. I think it's a lack of internet because live communication allows people to feel real emotions from communication.
Also, people often write confidential information about themself, which is accessible from anywhere in the world and it is not safe.

Of course, with the internet people can easily find the information and answer the questions, but in general, I think life without the Internet would be better, because people could not spend the time useless. Time — is an invaluable resource in our lives. Also people would not suffer Internet addiction and would feel more free.

The media

Information has always played a significant role in all human societies and it happened so that throughout the time some people have discovered talent in telling others the news and corresponding things. Such people who have dedicated themselves to this art are forming now what we call mass media.
The ways information has been relayed and spread have constantly been undergoing major changes along with the development of the human civilisation, so in the last two centuries mass media has experienced a boom of new opportunities of communicating with people – starting from telegraph and radio and ending with the Internet. These changes have naturally had a great influence on the media of the modern day and nowadays there is a wide range of sources offering a lot of different information. On the other hand, each source has its own specifics and target auditory. However, the media agencies can be divided not only by their type – like newspapers, radio stations and websites, but by their thematics and national belonging, too. Therefore, today almost anyone can get any kind of information from any imaginable media agency by any possible way, and that's why the modern times are called 'the information era' – the age when information becomes ruling the world as one of the most important values.
However, despite having lots of bright sides, the media is suffering from numerous problems. Some of them appeared in the last few years, some have become even traditional. The most big and common problems are tied with the amount of truth in the reports. Urging to be the first to tell something (this means getting bigger auditory, hence, more money), media agencies may pay little attention to the proof of the presence of the described event and it results in a big amount of false reports. Moreover, some of the agencies can even tell the untruths deliberately – just to get more money.

Emergent.info, an online service which collects information about claims and checks whether they are confirmed, unverified or confirmed false

The question of truth is also about the real view on the current events – if a news agency pretends to provide an independent overview it can have problems with the government of its state, and the risks depend on the degree of the freedom inside the country. On the contrary, if a media agency decides to provide the state position, the amount of truth in the reports decreases. It can decrease the belief to such agency as well but this happens only when the auditory has access to independent view. If not so, though, the media becomes a propaganda machine which is able to change a whole nation in a rather short period of time as it happened in Nazi Germany in the middle of XX century.

Well-known Russian cartoonist Sergey Elkin comments on the 'zombifying' capabilities of media

So the media has always been with us along with its ability of influence and it makes no sense asking whether the media is good or bad – such question can do nothing to its presence as well as to the efforts of converting it into one's powerful weapon. From my point of view, while looking on the history of the simultaneous development of media and humanity we should ask ourselves: how should we behave to get only true news and what can we do to make the media not to provide lies and harmful information?

The Internet

"Oh, I'll just check my e-mail for a minute... And facebook ... Hmm... What's on that link... Damn! It's 3 a.m."

You

The Internet has entirely changed the everyday life of average man. Its mission was to ease access to information and connection between people. Is it completed? Of course! No paper mail (ask your grandparents about queues in "Pochta Rossii" offices), no libraries (I mean time spent there, searching information), no paperboys. Life became faster, you say. But did it?

How much time do you spend on the Internet everyday? Hours and hours. How much time do you use it in its proper destination (searching useful information, not kittens)? Umm... Maybe, for an hour per week. Certainly, Internet made access to information faster, now there is more free time. And where do we spend it? Right, on Internet. But not searching for some historical books or biological researches, no. Just scrolling Facebook and Instagram profiles. Hundreds of selfies and cute videos. Oh dear... Inventors of the Internet thought better about people... Internet became an universal way of spending time. Searching for information now requires skills to choose the right stuff from tons of trash, that Google offers you. The speed and gigantic volumes of information there have changed the borders of privacy. People have real opportunities, but have nothing useful to share. So they share kittens and selfies. God only knows whatever will be in next years. So, is Internet as useful, as supposed to be? Obviously, not.

The idea and opportunities, that Internet offers are really incredible: any people, any information in a minute, second, faster and faster. But the way we use it depends only on ourselves. So don't let yourselves to turn this great possibility into the greatest human timekiller.

Life without the Internet

The Internet has undeniably changed our lives: the way we communicate with each other, shop, get information and many other things. You can do anything due to its power but can it replace real life joys, like simply hearing someone's laugh instead of getting a smiley face as a reply?

Internet is easy to use, it's entertaining and without a doubt the biggest source of information we have nowadays. People can chat and Skype with their relatives that live far away, download any music or movie they like, explore interests of their colleagues, classmates on Facebook or Twitter and find so-called soulmates.

However, despite these advantages, with the help the Internet gives us, it also makes us less sociable and hardworking. For some people, it becomes an addiction - clicking one link to another they don't notice how life passes by around them.

Would you be able to live without the Internet? Would it improve your life?

Life without Internet

Nowadays Internet takes a huge part of everyone’s life because even 50% of work depends on it. And this is talking just about doing job, so what about chatting with friends and colleagues, watching movies and series online, download music or information…

As you could see, not every single person can just avoid the Internet. There are many reasons such as ones, those I mentioned in the first paragraph. But everyone knows this crazy nightmare: your Internet limit is over or you don’t have enough money to use it. Here we are facing with a problem: people really don’t know what to do without their mobile phones, gadgets or other stuff which is always connected to the Web. Someone, actually, don’t know that earlier when there hasn’t been any Internet people called each other in the window or came at home of their friends. Now the only one method of easy communication is Internet.

Personally, I believe that the life without the Internet is much memorable and I know many thing to do when you are far from it, but I know that I couldn’t give up Internet. Maybe just now, when I’m studying – I need to contact with teachers, look for the information, etc.. I hope that the time when people would change their Iphone for Alan Poe’s book just for fun, not for necessity. I know that Internet is indivisible part of life now but we can change this position a bit. Why don’t we try to find out something interesting outside Internet?

Social network sites

Our days people don't respect social network sites. Everybody thinks that internet is a sickness, which kills their time. But I don't think so.
Life is very long and it's over we can meet many good people. As for me, all my childhood was in three different cities. Now I have three best friends from these places. I know that I will not soon come back and meet with them. It goes without saying that talking on phone is too expensive. So we only chat in social network sites. It is very useful and now I can't live without it. I am always smiling when i see a message from them. But internet isn't my problem, on the other way it is the only source to contact with my lovely friends.
In my opinion SNS were made for chatting with people who you care about, it's not a source of entertainment things, were you can spend all day and all night. Moreover it's good idea for talking with friends because it's free.
Of course it's always better to read book. But real friends are very rare,no matter how long is your life) So we need just regulate our time spending in social network sites and all will be ok. But how cool is seeing people smiling with their phones))

Selfie. Ilness?

Here I’m gonna wright my attitude to this illness .A lot of people do selfies nowadays.
Wiki thinks that selfie is “ a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. They are usually flattering and made to appear casual. Most selfies are taken with a camera held at arm's length or pointed at a mirror, rather than by using a self-timer.”
I have no problem with them. People try to act like they're too cool for selfies but to me, like anything else we post on social media etc, it depends on the contents of that selfie. There are instances where I question someone's judgement...
BUT there are so many instances where a selfie is awesome. I love a lot of selfies I see. In fact, I take them when I want to remind myself that I like what I see in the mirror sometimes. I take them because no-one else will, to prove that I was somewhere or doing something. I like seeing some of the humourous selfies taken by funny people - clever stuff. I like tourist selfies (as long as they let some of the background in). I love taking silly ones with friends.
I get sick of people making fun of the selfie and shaming those who are seen pouting into their camera phones. It's all a bit of fun. Some are better at it than others. Whatever.
But selfie became a serious illness because a lot of people do them a lot, wherever they are( in bathroom, bedroom, toilet, school…). I think, that making a lot of selfies (15-40 per day)is a disease.

Do you think that soon everybody will do selfies(from 6-old boy to 88-old woman)

Privacy

Privacy.
Have you ever thought about how does anybody can get the information about you ?Obviously , the first thing that bares in your head is " ...well, my friends could tell you ...". Then think ,if anybody says " what if I know aspects of your privat life but I don't know any of you mates" ? Would it sound threatening or scareful for you ?
Of course, any  private information happen to be using by unknown persons seems going to play a low-down trick with you . Everybody knows it . The awareness of threat makes people feel  exposed.
But privacy is a very common right , people are fighting for.. So why we still have problems with it?
It comes up with Internet and Media , and that's the most logically right answer ! Social networks , reality shows , TV - all of those means of getting information based on spreading the information , in most cases private .
In case of being celebrity-giving out private information means earning popularity , because the audience need it to be entertained, whereas celebrities put there lives at risk..

Life without the Internet

A lot of people think that life without Internet could be better. People would spend more time with theirs books, theirs vision would be much better and the would connect with real friends not with virtual.
On the one hand it's true. Life could be more healthy and useful. For example if you need some information you can read books or if you need to know news than you can read the newspapers or watch the TV. Your parents and especially grandparents will never understand why can't you stop using the Internet and start living life the used to live without it. Actually I think each generation has its own sources of knowledge. Previous generation used to find information In books and they read the real newspapers instead of virtual. Nowadays you can do all this things using your phone or computer. It's like a part of human evolution. Internet is a great think that can help you everywhere. You can read electronic books, watch TV or films you want to watch, connecting with people all over the world. Probably some people spend too much time on the Internet but you just should control yourself. How we can actually live without it?

Life without the Internet

The Internet is the significant invention for our present and our future. When people had more opportunities of communication than now? Could our grandmothers and grandfathers imagine, that one day it will be possible to сommunicate with friends, living in other country, without leaving a flat; to read any book, without going to library; to buy any goods you like without going to shop?
The Internet has become an essential part of our lifes, we just can’t imagine existence without constant access to information. Without food human can live about 2 months (if he will drink), without water human will die in 5-7 days, and how long can we live without the Internet.

Can you imagine now, that about 50 years ago, people lived without  it? Probably not, it's all because nowadays World Wide Web turned from a simple informational resource into a service provider for life. We use it during the day a lot. If we have to answer a difficult question, firstly, we will google it. If we need to cook new dish, we will google how to make it. If we don’t know, where we are, we will open a map. Electronic map. The Internet has become part of us, sort of upgrade, we are practically like Superman until we have Internet access: we know everything, we know everyone, we know the last news about last events and so on. But since the Internet has become this important for us, many people have started asking one question: «What if the Internet is much more harmful (for health, for real communication) than useful?»

As every big theme, that really worth discussing, the Internet has it’s own pluses and minuses. Internet addiction can ruin human mentality and his social contacts, such consequences are bad of course, but imagine: something bad had happened and the Internet has disappeared. Horrible, isn’t it? What will we do, if it can’t be fixed? Will our world wallow in panic or will our ‘greatest minds’ think even faster to solve this problem?

To sum up, people need the WWW,  people, who are against it should just accept it, and we should use web careful and do everything that won’t give information from the Internet replace our thoughts and feelings.

Life without the Internet

Nowadays, the Internet is an essential part of our lives. Lots of people all over the world use gadgets to find out new information. People of different ages, from kids to old, can use the Net. I think that more than a half of users couldn't imagine even a day without Internet connection.
What a day without Internet can be? From my point of view now there is a lot of useless information in the websites. People waste their time reading unnecessary stuff which becomes forgotten rapidly. Instead of this people could read books, newspapers, that is healthier and more comfortable. The speed of changing the information in your head will reduce, but it's good mind benefit. As for me, it's easier and more comfortable to use a sheet of paper and a pencil to express my thoughts because people of our generation are used to this method of working.
Also, you can meet your friends, walk with them in the streets and have real communication. People using social networks are addicted to the website, but not to friends there. They believe that virtual communication is a good alternative and of course laziness prevents real communication.
So, personally I believe that it's possible to live without Internet and use it only for appropriate tasks.
The media

Nowadays mass media has an important role in our life. We listen to radio, watch TV, read articles in magazine and newspapers and we need to watch/read the news to be understanding. But what is the main purpose of mass media?

Firstly, let's consider about all purposes of mass media since the first newspaper was printed. Old newspapers had two main purpose: to inform (about political situation, important events and famous people) and to influence on people from government (to calm people down and inspire the "right" point of view). Then after information explosion mass media started inform people about culture (new great books, paintings, etc) and introduce a special model of behaviour. For example, articles about healthy lifestyle or about need to be active in political life of your country. Now there is one more purpose - to discuss about the most wide-speard pr
oblems and questions in people's lives, such as what everybody should do to be successful.

Personally, i think that the most important propose of mass media is to show people what is good and bad; right and wrong. Anyway, mass media should be  responsible for the information they give. But are they understand their responsibilities?

Life without the Internet

Nowadays the Internet plays an important role in life of every person. Many people addicted to the Internet. They can't imagine their life without it.  Even after one day without the Internet people become to panic. And so, let's understand how the Internet impacts on our life?

There are two aspects of influence of the Internet on us: positive and negative.

Let's discuss negative effects of Internet. As I have mentioned before the Internet makes a big impact on people. First of all, they feel really chill when they are forcefully separated from their devices or connectivity. For instance, people every surfing the Internet at least 7 hours. They communicate with their friends all day long, they listen to music, download films and so on. That is why they can't concentrate on their other works. They just surf the Internet. Personally I think that people become lazy and they don't have any wish for doing their work, going for a walk with their friends. Secondly, the Internet makes a bad impact on our health.

Now, let's discuss positive impacts of the Internet. Of course, except bad aspects of the Internet, the Internet has a lot of advantages. There are a lot of information, so it is much more convenient for us to look for information using the Internet than finding information from books. So we can spend less time on doing our homework and more time on  important things.

So, in conclusion I would like to say that the Internet has a lot of disadvantages and also a big amount of advantages. And what is your opinion of this problem?

Life without Internet

Since the "arrival" of the new invention that is known as the Internet, we have been impressed by the speed of our lives, by the speed of receiving and giving out information. Nowadays, we even don't expect to get letters from our friends or relatives who can live far away, because we just don't need it: we have e-mails which are always available and fast. We can buy any thing through the Internet and even don't have to get out of a chair. Yes, it's very convenient and doesn't need much time. But, however, is it normal?

For people of the 21st century it's hard to even imagine life without the Internet. And I'm convinced that in many ways it would be very beneficial but at the same time be very detrimental. It's like in every thing there are both good and bad sides.

On the one hand, it would be good for our brain. Teenagers will spend more time communicating together in reality, but not in virtual life of social networks. They will have more free time and will spend it on reading books, going outside with friends or with their family, they'll do different kinds of sport and just be healthier. We will write letters again, we will go to the cinema with friends instead of watching films online at home.

On the other hand, we will spend more time on searching different information. Just imagine: firstly, you have to go to the library, they will give you some books 1000 pages each, you will have to look through them and, finally, you will manage to find the right information. Now compare it with just one push of the button of the Internet! What is easier? Of course the Internet. But what information will be more valuable for you? From books, as you have spend too much energy on it! And we receive that information better, on which we spend more time and energy. But it's just the connection with us. But what about the whole world? People wouldn't be able to work, all worldwide systems will be off, all contracts, all banks' systems, all meetings, all corporations won't be able to function.

To sum up, we can see some advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet and not using it. But still we can't judge whether we can live without it or not, can we?

Social Networks

Nowadays we have plenty of different social networks. We waste our time surfing there day and night. Having our phones or notebooks we can be online everywhere. Some people are really addicted to social networks and they need to check their tweeter or instagram every single minute.

You have complete freedom of choice to use one of the thousand networks. Like square photos? Welcome to instagram! Really love google? Your choice is Google+. But there is one important condition: in order to be in touch with your friends they should use the same network!

In modern families you can clearly trace the evolution of the ways of communication. Usually there are three generations in a common family: grandparents, parents and children. Each generation prefers its own way to communicate. Grand parents like landline phone, parents usually use mobile phone or email and children and young people prefer social networks.

There are some certain advantages of social networks. You can communicate with your friends all over the world and for free. You can find like-minded persons or special interest community in over a minute. More of it, what I like the best of the social networks, it’s an exchange of the experience and information between ordinary people.

But there are negative sides as well. Firstly, social networks allow their creators or other organizations (such as CIA for example) to control our personal data, interests and to trade them without our knowledge or consent. Secondly, live communication is replaced by virtual reality. Two friends can sit side by side and write something on the devices but they do not exist for each other now and here. And thirdly, people have lost the feeling of responsibility for their words and deeds through social networks. The whole important ability is being destroyed by these networks. A person – a doctor or a parent – can do or say whatever he/she wants and nothing will happen. No fear, no mind, no heart.

So what do you choose: networks or a real life?

Life without Internet

Nowadays, almost every person can use the computer. But, wait… Every person HAVE TO use the computer. It’s comfortable for everyone. We can’t imagine our lives without internet.

As for work, just click and you can start it from everywhere. You can work at home, office, café… just everywhere you want and then, you can send it to your boss by e-mail.

In the internet you can find everything.

For example, you can’t cook and you don’t know what to do. Your parents have gone to work and nobody can help you. But you’re really hungry! What will you do then? You can ask your computer for some help. It will find you some recipes of easy dishes or some cafés that are nearby.

Also, because of internet, you can communicate, for example, with your friends, grandparents who live far away or with colleagues from another countries for free. There are some programs, like Skype or FaceTime, where you can chat even with seeing each other!

Apart from good options, there are also lots of minuses. Internet can ruin your life! A lot of people use internet without any purpose. Teenagers like playing online games with friends. Often, if they can’t complete the mission, they get angry and really aggressive. They’re getting obsessed with games.

Also, your life will be able to ruin by internet if you don’t pay a lot attention to your family. You won’t communicate with them, won’t know how are they. Your family can say that you exchanged them to Internet and they will be right.

I think, the internet is a really good thing, but ONLY if you understand that you mustn’t spend all your day in it. You must use it if you really need to.

And what do YOU think? Can you imagine life without internet?

Selfie and how to do it.

Most teenagers and young people entertain themselves new trend in photography - selfie. What is selfie? . . Selfie- obvious self-portrait, the image is clear that the author photo shoots himself.

Any pictures are divided into good and bad.

good light is an integral element of any pictures, and selfie is no exception to this rule. Before you click on the button to create a snapshot, choose a place where there is enough lighting. Also note that the sun or the light source was in front of you and slightly above eye level, instead of light because of the shoulder directly into the camera.

Natural light is so much better conveys the color, than an artificial, but when selfi not so important color accuracy, since the distortion of the color temperature may serve as a kind of artistic feature of the photo. For convenience, the Studio equipment manufacturers have developed a SPECIAL PEN FOR SELFI, you can attach a light camera, which greatly increases the convenience for shooting importdata.

The next thing you must pay attention to is the place where you are going to take a picture. There are some places where selfi will be absolutely inappropriate. Probably not even worth talking about funerals or weddings, and other celebrations. Just every time ask yourself the same question: " Is it a really suitable place for selfie?"

Life without the Internet

Nowadays the Internet is very important for us. We can do just everything we want to with it: read news, communicate with our relatives and friends, buy things, play games etc. On the other hand, we spend a lot of time using it. So sometimes such questions arise — could we live without the Internet, would it be better or worse?

As for me, I think that the Internet is an essential part not only of our life but of our mind. We use it a lot during the day and if we have any question, the first thing we do — we google it. World Wide Web is the biggest information storage on the planet. Actually, it helps us to live: it tells us all about the weather, traffic and other important things.

So let’s imagine that one day the Internet has disappeared and nobody knows the cause of it. What happens? People can’t work, all worldwide systems are off, banks has lost all their money, enormous corporations are falling into ruins. We are observing the beginning of the apocalypse, our world cannot function.

To sum up my ideas, I’d say that the Internet is like a spider web which is in every little corner of our planet and our life is impossible with out it, because our world is addicted to it, it’s reliant on it.
